Sideboard with board in Bendywood®-walnut

22x400x2900 mm

The flat board had been made at the factory using 2 pcs Bendywood® wood blanks 12x12x150 cm in walnut.

First, it was cut to 52x100 mm, then jointed (with normal joints) lengthwise, then split to 25 mm thick strips, and then glued (with vinyl glue D3) widthwise with tongue and groove to create the finished board 2900x400x22 mm.

Brovelli moistened the board with the "sandwich" method, like you can see on the end of following link:
Bend / Moisten (bendywood.com),

then slightly pre-bent it with a 50 cm wide roller bending machine, then bent it by hand using clamps
in a homemade template over-bending by about 10% and then dried it in the template.
Since the expected "long-term" spring back is approximately 30% like you can see in following link:
Spring-back after being taken from the moulds (bendywood.com),

Brovelli "fixed" the bend by screwing 2 curved metal plates (250x35x6 mm) into corresponding recesses at the tightly curved point (left and right) on the underside of the bent board.

This is really a true masterpiece of a sideboard!
