Handrail for a stunning 2-story marble staircase in southern Spain.
Spain is synonymous with bright colors, hence the delicately curved white wrought iron railing and, as a contrast, the dark walnut handrail.
2 handrails 57x22 mm 4,5 m long in 2 halves with groove 42x5 mm
The 57 mm wide profile had to be split because it couldn't be bent across its full width: the bending radii were too tight for such a wide and thin profile.
The profile was pre-bent on-site using a template similar to the one shown in the following link:
Mould for bending flat handrails on edge (bendywood.com)
The pre-bent profile halves were then skillfully glued together on the flat iron using numerous clamps and press blocks.
The handrail was screwed to the flat iron from below, sanded cleanly by hand and coated with hard wax oil.
