The two-story staircase is built in a relatively small space.
The dark iron balusters with their simple decorative rings and the dark handrail
visually complement the light oak of the treads and landings.
The handrail could not be bent from an 11.0 m long single piece,
because a Bendywood® handrail with a diameter of 40 mm can only be bent up to a radius of 800 mm.
All parts with radii less than 800 mm had to be produced individually
by bending and gluing Bendywood® lamellas in layers.

In this case, there were 4 parts with tight radii:
- the initial curve (= Photo 4),
- the ascending curve after the intermediate landing (= Photos 2 and 3),
- the descending curve at the intermediate landing (= Photo 3), and
- the 180° curve with the descending curve at the top of the landing (= Photo 1).
The remaining sections of the handrail were bent with solid Bendywood® Ø 40 mm.
All the parts were then assembled on-site by positioning them on the railing rods (one hole for each rod) and joining all the components with long diagonal cuts to make all the joints of an 11.0 m long piece invisible.
The result: the handrail appears to be made of a single piece of wood.
This was possible by placing all the diagonal joints on the straight sections:
After assembly, handrail have been dark stained and a water based
hard wax oil was applied,
such as the "Renner wood-oil YS---M009 with 5% hardener YC M402" of the Tonet AG
